Why Should Writers Blog?

Why should I be blogging? As a beginner, I ask myself that question about ten times a day.

When I Googled the subject (I'm learning you can Google anything) I got a ton of information from Dustin Wax and Jurgen Wolff and their blogs directed at writers.

Wax in particular says "The point of having a blog is to build your platform—to establish a presence in the marketplace. Therefore the blog should be about you and the topic that you write about, rather than just a random selection of observations." His suggested topics were:

• advice
• behind-the-scenes peeks at your topic
• reviews of relevant books you’re reading
• discussion of news events that impact your readers

Well, I'm happy to see I'm in the ballpark with almost all of my previous posts. So maybe this will provide some reassurance to other writers asking the same question.
